Not sure what to write down here right now.
Last summer I found triathlons. For the first time in my life, I actually looked forward to a sporting event. (Sorry Dad, but I never quite got into the whole team sport thing as a kid.)
Well, I raced in a few duathlons the summer of 2001 and ended the summer with a triathlon. It was an incredible experience! As the offseason began, I ended up hurt. Right now I'm going through a long recovery process that seems like it has no end. (I'm such the optimist.) Hopefully after the first of 2002, things will start to improve for me.
I'll keep a log here of how things go.

Actually got in three workouts this week. Lifted twice and swam on Thursday.
I really like swimming. It just relaxes the whole body. And let me tell you,
my body certainly needed it. I was really sore from lifting on Wednesday.
It felt good to be back into the whole training routine. I miss it a lot.
Its strange how we start to identify ourselves. Being a triathlete was something I really took to, and when I was injured I felt that a part of me was taken away. I know that sounds odd, but it was a big part of my life. I got out of bed at 5 am so I could go work out, and the last thing I did before going to bed was fill out my training log. Its kind of scary how quickly that can disappear. I felt like I had disappeared. Gotta work on that balance thing this season.
In looking over the calendar now, I don't think I'll do a half-Ironman this year. I still can't run, and its January. I really don't think I'll be able to build a good enough base to race the half-IM. And I don't like doing races to just survive them. Looks like that will have to wait for 2003.
